My 5 month old DS is EBF. The past couple days he has has bright green frequent poops. While feeding him today he was grunting (sounded digestion related), but after each grunt he made a gasping sound. When not eating he is happy and breathing normally, just the poop change.

Any ideas what’s going on? Would this concern you?

Even though it’s not when he’s awake otherwise and not while breathing and nursing, only when he is grunting first?

I sent a recording to my pediatrician and he wasn’t concerned. Still is worrying me a bit though…

Does he gave a cold? Is he teething?

Could it be his nose is blocked?
Get a baby safe nasal spray

No cold. Teething is possible, haven’t noticed specifically but age wise it’s typical for my kids. How would that affect anything here?

I don’t think so because when not grunting he’s breathing normally, even while eating. It’s only after each grunt he pulls in air with a gasping sound (all while still latched and nursing)

Have you tried maybe running it by a seasoned lactation consultant? If my pediatrician wasn't concerned, but I still felt concerned that's what I think I'd do

Maybe your milk supply changed and your letdown is now too fast for him, and he's gulping and gasping when trying to coordinate his suck, breathe, swallow.

I’ve heard the gulping gasping and gagging type sounds related to quick letdown before, this sounded very different. I didn’t feel like it was specifically her swallowing related, more like because she was latched the breathing after each grunt (maybe constipation?) sounded like a gasp.
