Do frum financial advisors help guide couples on how to get the most from the govt? On my local women’s chat I always see women I know post about Medicaid and WIC benefits. They own houses and have nice belongings. I’m just curious because I didn’t grow up frum and feel like I’m missing some info. To get Medicaid where I live (if you’re not pregnant) a person would need to make $4500 or less in 6 months. That sounds so low for a family to make how do they survive. Thats why I think I’m missing something like what are they doing diff then me that they qualify

Does Medicaid in PA look at assets? If they don't, they could have bought their house and then fallen on hard times. Or their wealthy family members helped them out and structured their gift so it doesn't count as income.

Huh? Where did you get that info from?

Medicaid eligibility is 133% of federal poverty guidelines. Which for a family of 6 is $4651a month and 215% if the woman is pregnant.

The income limits for kids are higher than for adults. And sometimes Medicaid will pay for a family plan if it's available through your job and it comes out cheaper for Medicaid (I don't live in PA anymore so I'm not 100% clear on how it works)

We don’t own a house yet and have no income right now. I think it’s because they took the previous years W2. Which is not what we’re currently getting because of a change of job and location

Go into the office with proof of decreased income like proof of job loss or the last paycheck.

Maybe some of these women are not reporting income. Seems like a common thing in the frum community unfortunately. They think that stealing from the government is not actual stealing that is prohibited by the Torah.
