The threads on hosting made me curious, when you have Shabbos guests do you have bottled water or tap water on the table?

We drink tap, guests get bottled. It's more elegant and it's a cheap way of upgrading their experience

Tap. And sodastream for whatever that's worth. If someone needs bottled water they can always bring a bottle, I won't be offended.

I always put 4 water bottles on their side table. And show them where to take more from.
How would tap work? Give them a pitcher?

Bottled water is usually in plastic, which I don't find elegant. I prefer my water doesn't touch plastic, which is terrible for us. I like it straight from the tap into a glass bottle. But I wouldn't quibble about it if that's what a host served.

I happen to drink Poland spring and Kirkland (don’t like Dasani or Evian). I don’t have a filter in my house. I have friends who have whole house filters, friends who use a Britta, and friends who have water delivery. People serve their company whatever they use for their family. I drink whatever is served.

How is bottled water more elegant than a beautiful pitcher filled with water?

We have filtered tap. That's what's on the table. I leave small plastic bottles in the bedrooms for guests though, as a convenience.

My drinking water is double filtered. We have a filter on the whole house and another filter for drinking water in the kitchen. Our water tastes very clean.

That being said, I do buy a few bottles of Mey eden when we have guests from ch"ul because they do seem to prefer not to drink tap water.

Bottled. I find most of my guests much prefer water (even the kids, surprisingly) than the other drinks I put out as well (Snapple, soda, etc.).

Tap. I don't buy bottled water.

If you are my guest and let me know in advance that you only drink bottled water, I'll try to accommodate, but in my mind it's equivalent to any other food aversion that I only work around if I'm told about it in advance.

(Incidentally, a relative who used to only drink bottled water realized that refrigerated tap water was indistinguishable from bottled water to him and to any of his guests that he later tested his theory on.)

Not so much relevant to the question here, but asking it anyway

I have a for a few years already (in Yerushalayim) a mineral water machine, I feel that thirst does NOT go away from filleted/mineral water as it does with tap water

Can that be ?
Whenever I am really thirsty, I drink tap water and feel it last longer.
