All my kids tested positive for strep. DD didn’t have symptoms or discomfort but got her tested since everyone else had. (Mild case?) she’s refusing meds. I tried incentives, I tried forcing… no can do. Any tips??

I ask the pharmacy for suppositories. Many antibiotics come in suppository form.

I have this issue with one of my kids- refuses to drink medicine. What usually works for her (unless it’s REALLY bitter) is mixing it into another juice.

Only thing that works for my child: put on his favorite tv episode/movie. Play for one minute, pause and he must take a sip. Then he gets another minute of his show. Pause and must take a sip. Etc. The whole process takes around 15-20 minutes. At the end, if he took the medicine relatively well, I reward him and let him watch the rest of the episode.
I have tried EVERYTHING and this is the only thing that works for him. But, likely only works if you use screentime as a limited treat, as I generally do.

you need to find a pharmacy that does it. ,ot all pharmacies do it. If you live in Monsey Redi pharmacy near Home Depot in Janet does it. Or mix the antibiotics into Apple sauce.

If they'd give pills, you can crush & put into apple sauce, yogurt etc.
I found it masked the taste better than liquids in these things.
Hugs, op. When my daughter was two and a half she got stitches and they prescribed her with an antibiotic to prevent infection and she refused to take it. I tried EVERYTHING. I stuck it in her yogurt squeezy, I mixed it with apple sauce, I bribed, I distracted her, I tried to do it when she was three quarters asleep, nothing.
So after 2 days I gave up because who holds down a kid and squeezes her nose shut? Pharmacy said at her age they were not able to give me any pills...Right? Well, her stitches got infected.
Ended up being put on a longer dose and you bet we held her down.
For asymptomatic strep, I prob wld try above tricks, tho, & hope some gets in.

I found easiest way to teach young kids to swallow pills is to stick it in peanut butter or applesauce or something similarly thick, and have them take a big bite. Worked on the first try with my 7yr old who absolutely couldn’t mange with water. Also practice with tic tacs, they are pill shaped and smooth.

My pediatrician told me it doesn't get absorbed the same. Orally is much better.

Oral may be better but if you have a toddler who will not keep the oral down you don't have a choice.
