Anyone have this done? Does it hurt? They said something about not using a sound so that I won't be nidah...what does that mean?

I've done the Paraguard IUD three times. They use a speculum tool to insert it. Best to ask your Rav if you will be nida - I was told that I would be, so schedule it at the end of a period.

I’ve had it done 3 times, once by tru, twice elsewhere
They do use an ultra sound so that they can try not to make you a niddah. I scheduled it for the day before or the day after I went to the Mikva, I can’t remember which one. I was not a niddah according to my rav and I didn’t bleed.
I have generally found iud insertions to be overall painless, just a bit uncomfortable

Thanks! My Rav said to ask if there was blood on tool. If they only use ultrasound that what tool would be bloody?!

Ultrasound is to help place it. They use a tool to hold the cervix and another to place the IUD inside the uterus.
Either of those can get bloody.

And take painkillers before to help with the cramping.

I did mine there with dr surowitz Abe yes they did it with ultrasound. My rav said to ask if there was blood on the probe I assume that is referring to the ultrasound probe. (There wasn’t)

Professionals are not rabbinic leaders. You need to consult you LOR to find out nida status. It is common for frum dr/midwives to feel they have authority to pasken but they dont
