I always remember my babies grasping my finger when touching palm of their hand very tightly. My newborn now doesn't do. Maybe lightly and not tight. Read somewhere that reflexes are sign of healthy brain. Is this an Area of concern?

This is when you go to your pediatrician and ask.
Yes, lack of newborn reflexes are an issue.

What kind of issue is that?

Are they supposed to grab finger even during sleep when touching the palm of their hands?

I just tried on my two week old baby and he didn't grab either. He seems perfectly healthy.

It could mean that your newborn's reflexes are not yet integrated.
look up reflext integration- there are methods that are used to help babies, toddlers, into adulthood integrate absent reflexes.
There are solutions

Reflex integration means helping the body get rid of reflexes that it's holding on to. Not develop reflexes it doesn't have.

The OT I spoke to used the MNRA method and definitely used it to introduce reflexes (includeing grasping) - You stimulate the reflex and then manually do the motion until the baby incorporates it. I assumed it was called integration- maybe its called something else?

It's one of the things that's usually checked at the first doctor's visit. Lack of reflexes was the first symptom that led to my child's diagnosis.

Reach out to the Guttmann sister on their what’s app number - 646-535-8363. They are OTs that specialize in all reflex integration programs. You van bring them out (elicit) then. They answered me when I had this issue.

Was your child missing a few?
