Has anyone vacationed in Mexico? We are looking for a hotel that has a kosher restaurant and some restaurants within walking distance is a huge plus. Thanks

If you go to Playa, there are really cheap airbnbs and tons of kosher restaraunts in walking distance.
Very easy walkable city and plenty of taxis around if u want.

This. Dh keeps wanting to go to Mexico. Is it irrational of me to be scared? How safe do vacationers feel over there?

It is not rational if you're going to vacation towns like cancun and playa.
They are really safe. The Mexican government keeps it that way because they want tourists.
I felt safer there walking at night than I do in new york.

You will find lots of police officers in Playa and Cancun. They know they will lose all their income if tourists feel unsafe.

OP I went to Playa in August of 2023 and stayed at the Grand Hyatt. Was beautiful and relaxing. Kosher food on site was excellent and close walking distance to many other kosher restaurants.

And yet there have been murders even at the resorts there. The government doesn’t have control over the cartels.

Thank you for your response. When you were there, did you experience very loud music from the club near the resort? I've looked at reviews of the Grand Hyatt in Playa and there were a bunch that mentioned loud music at all hours near the resort that you could hear from your room.
