my 16 year old desperately wants a cannon camera with a flip screen that costs close to $700!!! she claims that "all the kids" have it. even those who's fathers are in chinuch/kollel. even if I can afford the camera, on principal I think its crazy to spend that much on a camera. is there a cheaper cannon camera that anyone knows of that has that flip screen? tia

My 15 year old told me the same thing. She said all the girls in sleepaway had this expensive camera. Now I can bh afford it but I think it’s crazy that such young girls have such expensive cameras and that they are taking them to camp where they can get lost, ruined, or broken.
Why is all this expensive stuff so normal and mainstream?

I just went through this with my daughter. B and h sells it for less (479 plus tax) the listing shows back ordered but you can order in advance ours shipped within 2 wks
It’s pricey and at first I didn’t want to but she s in hs and really wanted it. I know the girls take lots of pictures.. I couldn’t find something comparable for cheaper so after discussing it with her I bought it and she paid part and I paid the other ( bday/ Chanukah gift)

I see she s really enjoying it tremendously

My child with an expensive camera is a boy so its a little different...he bought it with his combined bar mitzva money. If you do buy please buy it somewhere with a warranty.

I got my daughter the lumix zs100. I paid under $400 from b&h, I think it was on sale. It's a great camera and gets nicer shots than the canon 740 etc. She keeps on getting top marks in her photography class in school.

I believe Akito (Jewish company) makes a comparable one for lower price. Call focus camera they would be able to help

We got the powershot 620sx used on eBay. It doesn’t have the flip screen. It’s got an impressive 25x zoom. Even here in Israel girls are getting the 740 and it’s like 800 dollars here. It’s insane.

Why are you all giving into this craze that is not normal. Get a cheaper camera and they will be just fine. In camp things break, fall, get lost. I wouldn't buy such an expensive item for camp. I got my kids cannons for around $100 and it lasted them through camp and seminary.

What? Why?
I just bought my kids a 50$ camera on Amazon for chanukah. I'm sure the pictures will be terrible and the camera itself is junk and will break but so what? It's a fraction of the price

Anyways the fancy ones break too
And in terms of quality of the pictures - who cares if they are bad? Your not hanging them on your wall? They are just for memories sake.
