I can't really afford a new camera but can't either afford not having one.
Would you suggest I buy a second hand camera on ebay? some look almost new and in great condition. Or is it a waste of money and I should pay the price for a new one?
My husband thinks a used camera would break sooner than later and cheaper now will end up being pricier in the long run..

I would buy a used canon. But they are not cheap on eBay. The only models that are cheap are the clunky rebels (but they take gorgeous pictures)
eBay offers warranties for many of the used cameras and canons are good quality.

Yes I am looking at Canon.
Why are so many used but really good cameras coming from Japan?
And should I not even consider if it looks just as good but coming from China?

I think the Japan ones are a scam. I once tried ordering and it got canceled.

Use a reputable seller. I was always wary of Japanese sellers, but when I looked into it on google, it seems they are legit sellers. But I never tried so I don't know.
