Hi, I’m looking for a with it frum coat also but I’m concerned about quality. I feel like the frum stores I’ve been to in Brooklyn for example all sell cheaply made coats from china that probably cost them nothing that don’t even have a name brand on it but cost sooo much. Worried I would be overpaying and also not getting quality. Can anyone help? I want a frum style but don’t want to be ripped off. Can anyone give advice?

Depends how much you want to spend. Many frum stores sell brand name high end coats also. I’m not convinced they are better. Just you are paying for a name also.

Thanks! Do you know of any stores in lakewood? I just feel bad paying $600 for a coat that feels like they spent $5 on on alibaba when even the tags have typos

Do you mean the black style of winter coats that lots of women are wearing?

Same. I was waiting for someone to question whether the coat needs to be yeshivish, chassidish, or just plain frum.

I figured the style common in frum circles were everyone wears the same coat. It’s not such a funny question.
Look at ‘Sams’ brand. Like at Saks 5th Ave. It’s a similar look.
I would think the local big coat stores would carry an assortment of brands.

No idea on the frumness of it, though.

There is a certain style. Black. Looks down filled. Either matte black (shiny is out I think). Maybe fitted sleeves. Maybe 1/2 fur on body and plain sleeves. Maybe fur on hood.
not so much wool coat or long coats or pea coats. More short or cropped coats. Not so many colors.
(I personally wear a 5 yr old lands end down coat I love).

I really wonder how there are imas who make comments just to make others feel bad. Why scoff or jeer publicly at what was clearly a serious question? What about Basic middos? Onas devarim?

You are describing my new jacket. It also looks similar to the ones linked on amazon. But I got mine at Ocean State Job Lot for $35. And it's good quality.
I don't look for style, or to be "in". But I guess I am accidentally/unintentionally in style

I see mostly teenagers wearing shiny jackets but for adults I see the matte or fur style more common

That's a frum style? It sounds just like the coat I bought for $80 at Burlington Coat Factory. I see it everywhere and my neighborhood is only about 20% white. Not 20% Jewish, most certainly not 20% frum--20% white so figure maybe 2% frum, if that. It's a big dirty city so people wear black to hide the dirt.
I bought it for its practical features: a high collar, removable hood (not that I bother removing it but I like knowing I could if I wanted to), snaps plus a zipper, and deep pockets. I would have preferred navy, burgundy, aubergine or hunter green for variety and ease of locating it on the typical sea-of-black coat rack, but they had it only in black.
.

Wow. So let me get this straight the people making fun of someone who wants a specific style are the better ones here? Because your middos are terrible. I’d rather care about with it coats than make fun of people personally.

Am I the only one who just keeps my coat from previous years if it's in good shape and it fits? Am it "with-out it" ?
