I got myself a necklace with my husband's name. He isn't too sure if it's ok for me to wear outside but couldn't pinpoint an exact issue.
Would you? Why or why not?

How big is the necklace? Is it super obvious it's his name? Or engraved small on a shape/plate?

I would wear it tucked in. But no need to advertise my love for dh to the world. And, yes, necklaces with kids names are different. (Though maybe not a great idea for ayin hara reasons….)

Honestly I don’t like that idea in general, it’s not your name and you’re not his property. IDK his name around your neck is a little strange from my perspective.

It is his actual name in script letters on a chain

I just want to know why.. like why is it so much worse than wearing my engagement and wedding rings?

He was willing to do it for me too
It's to keep his name close to my heart just like I would wear my kids names

I don't think I would wear something like that ever. Usually people wear their own names, so you might get weird looks wearing a man's name.

I don’t think it’s necessarily a problem hashkafically, but I do think it’s strange. Almost like getting a tatoo with someone’s name to profess your love of them to the world. Definitely too public for me.

So keep it close to your heart and wear it tucked under your top

I think it's fine because jewelry is very personal, and you should wear what fits your style and makes you happy. People will probably assume it's your child, and people who know can think what they want and keep their opinions themselves.
My mother has worn one for my whole life, though. It's embossed on a fairly small gold square and on a chain, and it's in a diff language, so it's slightly different.

I wouldn't. Is it a name tag? If lost return to....?
Wear it under your shirt if you'd like.

My first thought would be that she has a man's name. My child's name would be on a pendant or locket or similar. To me, script letters on a chain is usually identifying the name of the wearer.
But hey, we live in a society where anything goes. So OP, if that's what makes you happy, go for it.

I wouldn’t, as I find the concept strange.
Like, if I need to wear a necklace to remember you and feel close to you, are we really close? I feel close regardless. So why the necklace? So others should see that you feel close to someone? That’s just my opinion, but obviously you do you, and you disagree 😀
That said, if I saw someone wearing a necklace with their spouses name on it, I’d assume they were in a troubled marriage 🤷♀️

No OP, very very strange. It gives dom/sub vibes which is a kink that this website won’t let me describe. And besides for that, it’s tacky and weird. Too weirdly immature and mushy. The type of thing an infatuated kallah might do for her chosson and all the adults will roll their eyes and laugh. I can’t imagine anyone have anything but a very awkward reaction when they realize you’re wearing a necklace with your husbands name. Absolutely not don’t do it unless you are very strange and don’t care if people think of you as very strange.

I wouldn’t (not in this stage anyway. Can totally see myself doing it as a newlywed). But I also wouldn’t look at you strange if you did. You do you.

I wouldn’t GET a necklace like that for many of the above reasons, but if you have it and you like it and you want to wear it out then go ahead.
If I saw you I might have some internal thoughts, if you’re asking

No. I wouldn't wear it inside either. It's weird to wear someone else's name.
