A poster commented in the original thread that when parents are struggling, schools are reasonable and give reasonable breaks.
Is that your experience?
Because it hasn't always been mine
I have some schools who are accommodating. Ask me about the vacations I take, the cars I drive, when my last shaitel purchase was, how big my house is and then give me reasonable deductions.
And I have had some schools that have made it clear that tuition should be a priority before food, before medical bills, before underwear. Even when I've explained emergency situations that came up.
Im wondering if I was alone.

I have the same experience. We were told my 1 school to sell our home ($2700 mortgage) and rent an apartment for $1100. We had 4 kids at the time and live in Monsey . So my husband asked the tuition committee to find us an apartment for that price big enough for 4 kids.

I wonder if it has to do with where the school is holding, with how mamy families are asking and needing. If a school can pay its teachers and say yes, they are much more likely to say yes. If a school has so many families who need that if they say yes to all who genuinely need they can't pay their teachers and/or the mortgage/rent... I imagine they're more likely to hold the line. To say, "We can't give you this break- if you are going to send, we need you to figure it out somehow." Rotten all around.
