I wear pajamas (nightshirt) with a full length Sherpa robe when I wake up and get kids ready for school. I change about 5-10 min before carpool, into a sweatshirt and slinky. For work I wear a pretty dress and shaitle and makeup and look like a highly functional normal human being. The second I’m done I rip my shaitle off and get back into the sweatshirt and slinky (2 pm). I do toddler/baby pickups at 2 like that, and wear it u til about 5 pm when even a sweatshirt and slinky and a bra is just too much. I get back into my nightshirt and robe and wear that till the next morning. I just can’t handle clothing. And bras. Omg. It’s like- life is hard enough without clothing. If my kids want a chance to have a nice mommy I better not be wearing clothes. Mostly this is fine bc my husband doesn’t care. I just get into issues if I get an unexpected knock at the door…or if a kid wants a play date.

What do you wear at home?

Omg. And here I thought there is nobody like me. Getting dressed is torture. Tights is the ultimate punishment.

I also thought I'm the only one living in a nightgown. I hardly go out unless I have a school function or appointment because I hate getting dressed. The tights, shaitel, waistbands, and makeup are especially torturous.

Omg same here. And I hate shopping as well. I would be in much better mood in public if I'd be wearing cozy sweatshirt and sweatpants.

Oh and I change out of my bra into a sports bra
I have to always wear something bc I’m nursing and my nipples hurt if they aren’t in a bra or constrained

At home I wear pjs all day. I only get dressed when going out, or if people are visiting.

This. I don’t feel good when I’m shlumpy (is that a word)
And I have major sensory overload. But a cotton black t shirt and a short skirt with a very stretchy waistband is good with me

I think around the house clothes are normal to prefer. after all, you might be doing laundry or prepping food or tidying a bathroom. be comfortable and washable.

Sameeee! I’m extremely sensory. I can’t wear a wig for an extra second. Waistbands and underwire bras (I’m well endowed) are torture for me. I always say, the one thing I wishhh I could do would be to wear pants in public… I would be dressed every day if I could wear leggings and an oversized sweatshirt

If it’s torturous to wear makeup and bra and whatnot why don’t you try easier versions? Like no makeup due-y skin look, an easy sheital, and no right tights, loose like a goose? Honestly asking.

I have acne prone skin and a sickly complexion, so makeup is necessary if I want to feel presentable. I can't afford a more comfortable shaitel. After having kids I need the support of tights to reign in my mommy pooch. What we suffer for beauty <sigh>.

That’s why I do what I do. Even my “dressed” clothing is zip up soft dresses, no stiff materials, no zippers or tags etc. there’s no such thing as a comfortable shaitle. Even a tichel is too much for me sometimes. I feel guilty bc we’re yeshivish and it’s not done in my circles, but I wear my hair in a bun while I’m in pjs in front of my kids…and I even have teenage boys. I just feel like I’m going to die if I am not comfortable. Parenting is so hard. Running the house is so hard. And wearing clothes makes me feel like I’m going to scream at everyone. I imagine and regular clothes to me feels like wearing stilettos, an olden day corset, and fifteen layers of petty coats and a gown. I can’t breathe and my stress is just off the charts—for what? Better that I’m a calm and present mother than look good. Even a shabbos robe sometimes gets to be too much and sometimes mid-seuda I switch to pajamas. I know it’s extreme but it keeps me at the shabbos table listening to the kids if I can just change and not be in a freaking bra.
