My 2.5 year old has recently developed an imaginary friend. It’s adorable, she plays and talks with her all the time. She has a name and is around a lot.
For some reason I thought imaginary friends don’t happen till 7 or 8 years old…
I just want confirmation that it’s normal for her to have one this young cuz I’m an anxious mommy and she’s my oldest so I have no experience with this.

Totally normal. At that age my daughter had a whole playgroup of imaginary friends!
She grew out of it, but still has an awesome imagination!

Does she have dolls and Teddy Bear? Find her one she thinks is cute and use it to take her imaginary friends place. It can come with her wherever she goes.

Why would you want to do that? Isn't it easier to not have to take a doll everywhere?

Totally normal.
One of my nieces (now an adult) had her kindergarten interview. The principal said to her "so you're the youngest?" and she answered "no, Chanala is. She's my imaginary younger sister."
LOL
