I think dh has shingles and my kids are young. I’m so nervous they’re going to catch it and get chicken pox. Not sure if they were vaccinated for that yet.

Call their doctor in the morning and ask them to look up if your kids are vaccinated. In any case it’s good idea to call their doctor to ask if there’s anything you should do for them

If they are older than 1 yrs and they catch the chicken pox, they'll probably be immune for life and don't have to worry about getting it as adults.

I’d rather they don’t catch chicken pox…

Chicken pox is not deadly and is not dangerous. My daughter got it and was fine after afew days. I managed it and she had no pain bh
She is now immune for life. As am I (I had chicken pox as a kid too)
Compared to my older kids who got the pox shot and can get shingles later on chv when immunity wears off
Lesson learnt.

I am having a difficult pregnancy and just really don’t have the strength to deal with several sick kids and husband. I still would rather they not catch it.

Your information is wrong. It is much LESS common for people who have been vaccinated against chicken pox to develop shingles (as opposed to people who have had chicken pox in the past). I know many people (myself included) who had shingles and we ALL had chicken pox as kids.

You should be more concerned about you than your kids. It’s very dangerous during pregnancy if your immunity wore off. Call your OB asap and they can check your tigers

Like another poster said- it’s those that have had chicken pox that are at risk of developing shingles when older.
You’ll need to get a shingles vaccine to prevent that.
Much lower chances of getting shingles if you’ve had the chicken pox vaccine but never had chicken pox.

Short answer is somewhere between a year and 18 months. When my husband had shingles though we were very makpid to keep it covered and the baby didn’t catch it.

I actually had shingles myself around 15 years ago which is why I’m not panicking but will call my OB regardless.
