My 87 year old mother is having an operation this week. She will be in hospital for a few days and then will need to recuperate for about 2 weeks at home.
I would like to get her a gift. The one game she enjoys is Rummikub. I don't want to get any food item or clothes. It would be wonderful if I give her something which will help the time pass but I can't think of anything.
I would appreciate any ideas.
Thank you

A game is great! I recently went to play scrabble with an elderly lady. She wasn't post surgery, but she's pretty much house bound. He neighbor had bought her a couple of games she liked, think Scrabble, Boggle and Othello and arranged some middle aged ladies to go and play with her.
It was definitely appreciated more then chocolates or flowers, which altho do have their place, don't help pass the time.
This neighbor also advised anyone who asked her what they can do for her, to send in soups and other comfort foods rathe then chocolates. But guess everyone's different, and this is what worked in this particular case.
