My daughter is 8 and I’ve been dealing with this since she’s 4/5. Right now we are in a fairly good place. I give her 2 ex lax in the morning for years already. I refuse to make sitting on the toliet a battle and I really don’t understand how she doesn’t mind dirty underwear. I know what has to be done to solve this issue but I am waiting for her to be be willing to work on it.

How old was your child when they overcame this issue and was it because you were super on top of it or because actually wanted to “fix the problem” and they worked with you.

Dealt with it for 6 months and I was on top of it. Sitting daily was non negotiable, they could choose prizes, tablets etc.. but they sat no matter what. And it worked and now when I see them not being on schedule and I get right back on top of it. It’s really the only thing that works otherwise you just suffer for years.

It's funny how this was such a big deal for us for so many years, but now that it's past us b"H I can't even remember when exactly we got past it! DD is now 13, I think she was about 10 or 11 when she finally was able to overcome it

Not so scare you but my child did this when he was abused. He stopped after he started healing in therapy. Took about a year.
