I’m so frustrated. Dc keeps having accidents. They’re definitely constipated though it’s also worse when they’re busy and just decide to make in their underwear instead of stopping and going to the bathroom. They always smell. I’ve tried mirilax half capful once a day and didn’t see an improvement. I really need something quick and that will work. I’m having a baby soon and need to tackle this beforehand on the very limited energy I currently have. Please help a momma and her child out!

Hugs!
We’ve been speaking with a pediatrician and a behavioral therapist, first tackle the constipation medically
lots of patience, a sticker chart and prizes
It could be anxiety related or trauma from the constipation trying to go to the bathroom.

Each kids different it’s really tough, good luck

We are trying medically but feel like not getting anywhere and charts are not working.

People freak out on here about it but the only thing that actually fixes it permanently is cleaning them out with enemas and then having a scheduled bathroom time every day after supper. They must sit for 15-20 minutes give them things to keep them entertained and calm.

Start with an enema to do a clear out. Mirilax as a follow up daily. Assigned bathroom times when they have to sit and wait on the toilet for minimum amount of time. Regular exercise. Fiber added to diet.

We did this a bunch of times. Periods of time were great and then back to smelling awful.
Bh with maturity, and after years, he is much better.

Urologist told me miralax is better than enema because enema will only empty out the lower half and miralax will empty out the whole thing.

Well that’s not true. And miralax doesn’t work at all on most kids. So many doctors just put kids on it and then they stay on with no changes for years.

My kid's urologist said to approach it from all angles. Mirilax. Benefiber. Enemas. When it wasn't enough we did a proper cleanout and maintainance.

You must go to a GI. You need to do a proper cleanout and switch to exlax. I had this with 3 kids! Pediatricians don't know what to do and miralax doesn't work for this. Then you will need to stay on maintenance ex lax for a period of time. It's encopresus.

Both my kids are on miralax daily. We've tried a few things and this is what works. but I find it only works when we take it every day, doesnt work to only take it once they are constipated.
