OT activities for my kid at home

My 6 year old son is being evaluated for various therapies.

He is a smart kid BH but having a hard time reading, he takes a long while to get dressed, gets told everything a few times, etc.

I believe he will be okayed for OT but I would love to do some things with him at home.

Any ideas for what activities I can do? Doesn't have to be therapy-centered, even just regular fun activities that will make him think.

All I could thing of right now is hopscotch.

I'm part of the Guttmann sister's membership, Transcend. They have so many activities they share in their learnings and handouts. They are even starting to share sensory diets monthly you can do at home. I wouldn't normally mention it as their membership is closed, but it happens to be they opened it up this week for new members. You can check it out. www.handsonapproaches.com

If that doesn't work for you, you can always google. I used to do that but now I just ask the therapists what would work, what isn't, etc. There's a lot we can do as parents!

Im not a therapist but I have a similar situation
Im trying to do one activity each day after school
1. kinetic sand w molds 2. clay and shapes 3. chulent mix (beans) in a pan with assorted cutlery/cups to play with (this is a winner) 4. pom pom, pop stickles, doo dots, stickers, coloring books arts n crafts 5. there is an amazing cd I heard about from a few ppl that has exersies to strengthen the core and the right:left side of the brain. Braingym exercises
3 step motor commands- try to have them be a movement exercises- like spin around 2 times, jump 10 times, hop 5 times. then he has to remember the order and amounts and complete it without prompts.

Its from the company Brainworks. They have a program to help kids with their development in many aspects.
The cd is $100, thats why I didnt buy it yet..... but I heard a lot of good regards

Also, I applied for my son for OT last year and he didnt get approved. I did the evaluation w the board of ed and they said that his scholastics were not affected by his OT deficiencies and as much I tried (!!!!!!) I couldnt get him approved.. I spent tons of time for this.
I just want to share, that your pediatrician can prescribe your son for MEDICAL OT which is the same thing without the entire evaluation process. you need to choose a center and take your child there for services vs having it done in school or at your home. I got my prescription this year bh and im in the process of starting

Trillium can you elaborate on this transcend program? It sounds interesting but it's not cheap and I've already spent so much on multiple OT's. I'd love to hear more about it.

Sure. It’s a closed membership (I think opens 2xs a year). The sisters prepare a learning once a month, have a live q and a, unlimited searching of their learnings, and additional programming. But what I use it for is asking them questions directly. They have a community online (not on social media) where they answer your personal questions. It’s been a lifesaver and let me really make progress with my therapists and with the behaviors at home. Also, they support you as a parent. They are very empathetic and answer every single person differently based in their situation. They’ll guide your or tell you what/where to go.best money spent. You get direct access to them.
