The ped advised that we start my 4m old on oat cereal mixed with formula
I feel like it’s a little too young. He has great head control but is just starting to experiment with sitting up. Not rolling over yet, idk if that makes a difference
I already started giving small tastes of foods I was eating like avocado and melon to suck on and he loved but I don’t know why I’m just not ready to have him sit up and eat this kind of stuff yet.
What age did you start and what foods did you start with?

I started chicken soup at 3 months. And then moved on from there. If your baby likes regular foods give it slowly why not.

Pediatricians are not feeding experts.

A four month old baby's gut isn't ready to digest solids.

Grains are especially hard on the gut.

From a gut health perspective, 6-8 months is closer to the time that a baby's gut is ready for food. And grains closer to 12 months.

I started 5-7 months.
I would start with avacado, banana, chicken...
I think the baby cereal is not the healthiest

I have five children and they all started eating at different times. My current baby who is 7 months old now started eating the earliest of all my kids. He was grabbing at about 3 months already and throwing things into his mouth. He happens not to like cereal so I really don't give it to him. I give him pouches of pureed food and also wtvr we are eating that he can eat. But when I did take him to the doctor when he was 4 months old my doctor actually told me if I can to hold off until he's 6, 7 months old for food. I ended after feeding him because he was grabbing it anyway.

If he hadn't been grabbing and putting things into his mouth anyways I probably would have waited till about now to start him on food.

My oldest is late thirties and we were encouraged to start solids at 3.5 months. I know, who even thinks about it before 6+. But I just heard that parents are introducing solids at 4 months.
