We've never budgeted but we need to start asap.
Any advice/tips please?
I feel like money just disappears, I'm spending too much on food and then by the end of the month we're scrambling cos no money left.

First thing is write down every expense - every time you spend money.

This was actually a fascinating episode in regard to a method that works and was shared with so much empathy

Definitely start by writing evey single thing you spend money on.

Then see what it adds up to.

Then see how much you make per month.

And then, ask yourself, what can I cut back on?

When I’m feeling really organized I use a spreadsheet with a budget after all the important stuff like rent, utilities and car the dollar amount helps me a lot most of the grocery budget is on Costco stuff.

Write my grocery list before going into the supermarket… so I don’t just buy anything only what I’m shopping for.

Limit extras, fancy meats etc. everyone’s extras are different- we keep it to once a month

Costco is the best, aldi and Walmart for most

You need to look at your last 3 months of expenses to get an idea of where your money is going. Figure out how much is left after all of the fixed bills and divide from fhere

pay all necessities first

Rent/Mortgage
Heat
Electric
Health Ins.
Food

Then pay everything else
Car Ins.
Tuition

Only buy Dairy/Meat products in Kosher stores everything else in Walmart or Target type of stores to save money, clip coupons as much as possible.

When I go shopping I always over buy so I always take at least two things out of my cart at the register that I probably won't need this saves at least $10 per shopping trip which can add up.

Make homemade lunches/snacks saves money also.
