How come I have no problem spending $90 on cleaning help once a week but blink at buying myself a product that I want and will last months

You know it's interesting because some people just have a hard time spending money on themselves. I can drop money like that for my friend but even less to spend on myself. I feel totally selfish.

My mother's kind of the same way she wants. I once wanted to do something with her and she said she didn't want to spend the money and I was a little bit upset and I pointed out to her a little bit later when I was able to gather my thoughts that she would drop even more money than that to fly to my sister. But why wouldn't she spend the money to go with me to do this thing and she said that she didn't realize that it was for me because for me she had no problem to spend the money. But when she viewed it as for herself she had an issue

I think at some point in our lives people internalize that doing for yourself is selfish and selfish is bad. That's why they're such a huge emphasis on self-care and such because we need to remember that it's okay to spend on ourselves and to do things for ourselves

Is it also possible that you see cleaning help as a necessity and not a luxury because a lot of times people again it's a lot easier to spend money to buy bread than to buy a chocolate bar because one is considered a luxury.

You choose having mental and physical energy over a materialistic item. Maybe that is what it is

Maybe you set a higher priority on a clean house than on those other somethings. There's nothing wrong with that. The state of your home affects not only you but everything that goes on in it and everyone who lives, works, or visits there. The "actual something" is enjoyed by you alone. There's nothing wrong with buying yourself a treat, but neither is there anything wrong with sharing the bounty.
