My dh works late, so supper, hw and bedtime are on me. If you are in the same boat, do you have a mother's helper? It gets so stressful during the after school routine. If you do have a mother's helper, do you find yourself less stressed? Or it's more imposing on you with an extra person in your house?

When I had a bunch of little kids I would have a girl come once or twice a week to watch my kids.
some girls where very good with my kids and some where not so good.
At one point I had Malka, Malka hated babysitting but she loved cleaning, she would clean my house in a 1\2 hour that would take me a few hours.
I kept her because I had no cleaning lady and got another girl for my kids.

My daughter is in 5th grade. She had been helping relatives (no pressure for her, she wants to do it) after school the past couple years.

She has been going to some of my married nieces to help them with their little kids. She may not go on a consistent basis, but decides each week. Yesterday she played with her 2 year old cousin and held her 4 month old cousin so their mother could make supper. Not sure she'll do it every week, but each time is a huge help.

At the moment I wouldn’t want one but I would if/when I’m pregnant. Would love to know where I can find one! Like a HS girl or out of school. Basically a Frum nanny.

Same no choice otherwise.

We’re wiped by bedtime and wake up isn’t fun either but we just do it- I love shabbos mornings

I just had this conversation with dh- his work hours are from 10-5:30
he doesnt help me in the morning because he sleeps the extra hour...
comes home late becuase he was too busy and anyway sometimes he comes in to work later in the morning so he stays later in the afternoon
literally just finished venting that he should try to help me at least with one of these timings.
he says only one of his friends help out and the rest dont. I told him to do some homework.
I have 4 little kids and I do it all on my own... grateful that at least I left my job recently and I have breathing space by day.... at least that...

I just got a mother's helper for weekday afternoons because I am having a hard pregnancy.
I chose someone very carefully who is both good with my kids and also discreet - so if my house is messy etc. I don't feel like she is talking about that to anyone.
BH it works really well but there are times when she's kind of sitting around waiting for something to do. She usually comes when I'm giving my kids supper. I don't like to just leave, I am there the whole time. So she sticks around and she's gives an extra hand. Then she plays with my kids and gives them baths/showers and does homework when necessary.
