I'm renovating the bedrooms of my house and wondering if I should remove the existing Ceiling fans and replace with more updated Ceiling fans, or just remove and put in spotlights, or remove and put in a pretty light fixture?
Any suggestions? What's considered more updated? Thanks!

They’re not so in but I recently renovated and installed one in my master because I know I get very hot and it was a lifesaver this summer. Do not regret even if it’s not as pretty.

Personally I prefer cieling fans in bedroom. Not the most stylish but amazing for temperature control.

I saw something recently were the fan was ohidden in a light fixture. And not obvious.

How would ceiling fans be outdated? What else would you put in its place? We have an AC in our bedrooms AND a ceiling fan. We dont need the air all summer at all. We have the ceiling fan on almost every single night until its freezing.
Why would something that can make sleeping a bit more comfortable be outdated?

They aren't considered to be the height of elegance but many people have because they are functional.

Do you use your ceiling fan? For many people, it saves money on air conditioning.

Others don't have ceiling fans because they use the A/C - I do and don't particularly like fans.

That said, there are much more stylish ceiling fans to get and so you can upgrade to one of those.

Who cares? You're decorating the house in which you live, not the executive suite at Citicorp. If fans make you feel comfortable in your environment, keep them. If they're rusty, dusty, musty, and fusty, replace them with newer models.

I think the new style is called a fandelier. Definitely more stylish. Not sure how effective they are but look nice

I absolutely have fans. There are beautiful, quiet ones today. They cut ac bill because they circulate the air. They are used on days where ac not needed but it is a bit warm. My dd doesn’t have, she doesn’t like them- we really feel a difference when we are there.

I have this in living room and dining room. With spotlights.

We used to have a fandolier but when it broke I bought one with extra long blades and it’s amazing! Much better

I had three fans when I moved in to my house 1) kitchen, 2) living room and 3) one bedroom. I love the kitchen fan. Its great for when I leave a flame on on yomtov, if I burn something I can open a window, turn on exhaust fan and it clears fast. Generally makes cooking in the summer more pleasant. My living room fan I could take or leave. I like it but if I got rid of it I don't think Id miss it. The bedroom one I got rid of and don't miss it at all. I think it gave me dry mouth and I would wake up very thirsty.

I don’t understand. How many people are coming into your bedroom anyway, and who will judge you for having “outdated” ceiling fans? You do what’s good and comfortable for you.

I don't think anyone ever installed a fan for pure aesthetics. They're functional. Some look more modern than others. If you want to cool a room without spending a fortune, fans are still the best option.

Thanks for all the responses. I’m actually moving into a new house that I’m renovating and I never had ceiling fans in the apartments I’ve rented.
I’m not great with design and I’m starting from scratch about knowing anything at all about houses so thanks for all the input, tbh I wasn’t thinking about function when I asked the question but now I have what to think about regarding ac costs. I wouldn’t know abt comfort because I haven’t lived in a space with ceiling fans since I was a kid so I don’t know what if I would feel more comfortable with a fan.

Fans in general have become outdated in newer homes, because the standard home is now temperature controlled and cooling has also become cheaper. (In the US)
