In another thread, someone asked me to post this recipe so here it is...
AUNT H'S CHICKEN
onion, cut up
red pepper, cut up
yellow pepper, cut up
mushrooms, sliced (I use 1/4- 1/2 lb fresh)
boneless chicken, diced
garlic powder (she uses one cube)
salt, to taste
pepper, to taste
2 T. onion soup mix
2 T. flour
1 c. water
Puff pastry shells
Saute vegetables over medium heat. Add chicken cutlets and saute until cooked. Add garlic, salt, and pepper. Gradually sprinkle in onion soup mix and flour, mixing as you sprinkle (so that you don't get clumps). Quickly add water, mix, and bring to boil. Simmer for 10-20ish minutes. Before serving, bake puff pastry shells (if you're oven is on, you can do this on Yom Tov right before the meal) according to package directions, take out insides of shells, spoon chicken mix into hole, and spill over. Serve on individual plates for a separate course.
(You can simmer for longer. Sometimes if I make this for a regular supper, I let it simmer for as long as 45 min, covered, on a low flame, while I'm busy doing other things. You can also use whichever veg. you like. My aunt tells me that she sometimes makes this with leftover chicken, she just adds it all the way at the end so that it doesn't disintigrate. Also, you can probably adapt for Pesach!!!
