I have an adorable four year old who needs speech and OT. I live in Jackson so cannot get boe services. I have private health insurance. How do I go about finding a therapist through insurance? Would love someone who could come to his playgroup… I have no idea where to start! (I kept hoping he’d outgrow his delays but now that he’s four I and his daycamp morah really feel like he needs intervention).. I have horizon Omnia silver insurance.

You can call your insurance and ask who is in network. Or you can describe the issues and ask for recommended therapy agencies/therapists for those concerns and then see if they take your insurance. I also don't know how many agencies send therapists to playgroup as opposed to having the child come to the clinic.
Btw, if you lived in Lakewood you would only get services through the district if you qualified for special ed preschool and sent to linden/stars. Jackson is also obligated to provide in district for children who qualify but obviously is not a preschool most would want

Right so my son likely wouldn’t qualify anyway for board of ed as he meets all his milestones. (Tried to have him evaluated by Jackson but based on a phone conversation they wouldn’t even evaluate him!) Has some sort of processing issue and very deregulated… Comes across as a little off... Aside from calling insurance, any other advice. Would love to know from someone who’s had experience with this. Thank you!

If he has an asd diagnosis then connect plus or rainbow (might be worth it to switch to Omnia gold)
Also upwords or therapy place I think without the diagnosis but then you get much less services

Thank you! This is very helpful. He does not have a diagnosis and won’t qualify for one. He just has a speech issue which is starting to affect him socially and at home is super sensory and at times not well regulated which cause a frequent tantrums… otherwise a very typically developing kid…

Maybe call Ziva Krieger Foundation and they can help recommend someone?

Maybe speech with a floortime approach would be helpful for him. Also, as much as you say he won't qualify for a diagnosis, you may actually be able to get him one and send him somewhere that takes insurance and covers these services. For example- imagination preschool or the like.

If it is effecting him socially and has sensory issues then you might qualify. (If he is reaching his milestones but it’s more of a social regulation issue there is a bigger chance)
Best off is to speak to the agencies
Rainbow is in westgate near Jackson therapy place is in Jackson.
Zeva Krieger also very helpful but probably few weeks till you peak to someone
