Do you have a young child with either diagnosis? Psychiatrist and social worker we saw recently suspect this of dc.
Would love to hear from others in the trenches with similar diagnosis. Where did you go for evaluation, etc.
Please share!

Are you sure the ODD is a separate diagnosis, and he doesn’t just have SPD? My son has SPD, it’s under control to the extent that I manage him and myself properly.
There’s a great book on it (the out of sync child) and OT helps tremendously. Find someone you really trust who can also guide you too.

ODD isn't a diagnosis given to young children. Please find new professionals with an open mind and a positive outlook on your sweet child to work with you.

Not a popular opinion on this site but I would look into pandas and pans. Oppositional defiant behavior and emotional lability are classic for this. It can cause sensory issues as well, but often what looks like sensory is actually ocd.

I know someone diagnosed with ODD probably also at some 4 from the NYU child study center and that's probably the only place I'd trust to give that diagnosis.

PiCT parent training helped. Bh the kid is doing great years later.

Are you in NY? Where did you go for full evaluation? Thanks for the book recommendation I will read it but I need a trustworthy evaluation.

Would love to. Please tell me where to go in greater NY where I don’t need to wait a year and pay thousands of dollars.

So please get someone to do the ADOS (usually it's a psychologist who does it), your DC may be on the spectrum and the "defiant"/ "oppositional" the result of simply not understanding and missing too many social/language cues.
You owe it to yourself, your kid, your entire family to find out.

Yes, it's possible to have brain inflammation since birth. There are many other biomedical causes that can contribute to these symptoms as well, gut health being a big one.
