It came out in conversation that my 7 year old ds was bullied all year in school. Im devastated as I had no idea and heard wonderful things all year from his teacher. Any advice, I’m so broken and worried about school for him.

so painful.
Call a meeting with the principals and tell them what happened and that you won't stand for it
If there are parallel classes, tell them you need a switch
Ask them what they plan to do about it so it doesn't happen again
Where was the bullying happening?
It's usually due to lack of supervision
also speak to child's teachers at start of the year and ask them to look out for the dynamic
Get your child help, social skills boost

Bullied by one person or by a group? From his class in school or from older boys on the bus?
1. Your son needs more one on one with you and your husband, and reassurance that he is not to blame. The goal is to open lines of communication so that he should continue to feel comfortable telling you stuff. Dont overreact. That will just shut him up.
2. You need to make a call at the start of every school year to each teacher, introduce yourself and open lines of communication. Say, I am here and want to work with you for my child. Please dont hesitate to call, reach out for anything you think my child needs. or something like that.
3. If you really want, dont bother reaching out to the teacher, he may not have seen anything, Reach out to the Principal. With the goal of helping your child. Wont help to accuse the school or put him on the defensive.
4. If you want to bolster your son, get him therapy. I found Judo/Karate type lessons to be helpful.
too. Obviously not to be used in fighting but to get self confidence.
