Really don't feel well. I've been taking nibbles of a plum since about an hour ago (broke fast early) but it's not helping, I'm worried I'll throw it up. I feel hot and cold and weak.

My mouth wasn't dry while fasting so I don't think I'm dehydrated. I did nurse my baby more than I'd hoped to (he's 1 and eats food but is pretty spoiled) I've been in bed for the last hour and a half or so.

What do I do now?

Drink very slowly. Try to eat bland foods like rice cakes or crackers. But mainly you need liquids.

Had liquid in the form of a very juicy plum but I'll try water too. I figured I also needed sugar and calories.

"Just eat" is not helpful. The smells coming from the kitchen make me feel like throwing up

I had this happen to me while nursing. Even if your mouth is not dry, you ARE dehydrated. Every one of us is, and you, who are feeding a child, have expended more energy than the average person. Please drink water or something with electrolytes. Refuah sheleimah!

It does sound to me like dehydration. I had it many times and this is what it feels like. Especially that you're saying you nursed a lot...
The best course of action would be to try to drink gatorade and eat pretzels (you need the salt from it). You don't need tonz of water or any other food. If you start doing gatorade (has electrolytes) and pretzels slowly as tolerated you should start feeling better really soon.
Feel good!!

Plain water can sometimes make dehydration worse. Try drinking anything with electrolytes like gatorade, powerade etc. If you don't have either, you can also add a pinch of good quality salt to your water (you won't taste it at all, just a pinch) and also mix in some juice. Not the best but better than plain water.

If I had felt this way earlier I would not have fasted but it came on suddenly around an hour before the end. So weird. Even in under my blanket I'm boiling and when I take it off I'm freezing. Dh brought me a cup of orange juice and I'm taking little sips but it's making me more nauseous

I don't have Gatorade. Would table salt help? It's the only kind I have

I second the pretzels and Gatorade and if you can’t handle that, start with plain ice cubes

What about ice pops? That helps me when I’m nauseous

Definitely this. It's what is giving to patients in medical settings when they need to drink. Go slow. Something about the cold and about eating it vs drinking it.

I don't have ice or Popsicles either. Maybe I'll try Tylenol. I don't know what to do. Dh has the baby but I can hear him kvetching and it's giving me a headache but I really can't take him. I keep feeling like falling back asleep will help but I'm assuming that will just make it worse afterward. It's the only thing I actually want though

Any Pedialyte in the house or you could borrow from a neighbor?
You need electrolytes - sugar, salt, fluid
Send DH to the store if you have to and he should take the baby with him.

NOT plain water.

Put something acid-y in it, not much but a little. Here's an idea. Drink some water, room temperature, with a teaspoon of wine in it. Maybe put a teaspoon of sugar in the glass too.

You are certainly dehydrated. Your mouth wasn't dry because it was so dry you couldn't feel how dry it was, it had no sensation from being dry.

And lie down with feet up.

Instruct family to not expect much from you for now.

Do you have any ice cream? That usually helps me.
Or a few sips of soda.

FYI for YK- plan ahead. I usually keep a bottle of Gatorade for post fast.

If this is something you think might happen again ask your doctor for a prescription of dissolvable zofran. Specification the dissolvable one, I find it works faster than the swallowable and then you don’t have a chance of throwing up from taking it with water. It helps with the nausea so you can keep things down and start feeling better.
