Hi, my daughter will be iy"h going to seminary in Israel, she has Crohn's. We are in need of a Gastro Dr. to manage her care while she is there. Any recommendations for an excellent Gastroenteroligist in Israel? The preferred location is Tverya but I am open to all leads.
Secondly, anyone know who I can contact to inquire if there are insurance options for Americans studying in Israel with a previous condition? The seminary wasn't able to help us with it.
Any and all info is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

After she recieves a student visa, have her go to bituach leumi to register for kupat cholim. (National healthcare) She can select any kupa at that point - I would do maccabi. Every time she renews her visa, she needs to send a photo of it via their online portal, so they will extend her coverage. They will provide a log in password and username for their website at her visit.
I don’t have doctor recommendations, but after you sign up she can go to make an appointment with her family doctor and then recieve a hafnaya to a gastro. If you need any assistance please message me. Wishing your daughter an inspiring year!

I would recommend Dr Wilschanski at Hadassah, but it’s a long trip. He treated a number of children of people we know. He is knowledgeable and a mentsch. Speaks Fluent English. Hadassah-hospital.org/doctor/michael-wilschanski.htm. On a side note, our son had a preexisting condition with Maccabi and we paid a small monthly increase in his policy. Someone at his Yeshiva with a medical background negotiated it for us.

The seminary should be able to direct you. I guarantee that your daughter is NOT the first one with Crohn’s. if your daughter is going to Bais Chana (Chitrik) they have an Aim Bayit whose job is specifically to help girls with medical needs.
You might want to consider Haifa and not Teverya.
and possibly even a place in the center of EY. I know it involves travel, but the center has MUCH better care.

My daughter also has Crohn's and will IYH be going to seminary in Yerushalayim this coming year. As required by her seminary, we got a Chai Medical Insurance plan through Egert & Cohen. It is a Macabbi Kupat Cholim plan, but Chai also has a fully English speaking customer service team, as it is a plan specifically for foreign students. We paid an extra $75 to cover preexisting conditions and I had to upload a letter from her GI and provide a full medical history, but it was pretty simple. Based on my prior experience with older kids this plan is quite expensive ($830 for the school year, plus the $75 extra), but I am very happy it's available specifically for this daughter because the coverage looks good. Her seminary arranged for a group student plan, but maybe they can help your daughter get a policy as an individual? Here is the website: https://egertcohen.co.il/stude.....ance/
Hatzlacha and may both of our daughters have a meaningful, productive and healthy year!

Thank you this is very helpful. Do you know if this is just emergency care or routine/ongoing care such as medications and lab work if needed? From what I understand based on our emails with Tzippy it looks like they only offer insurance for emergency care.
