My 15 year old insists on shabbos sneakers. She doesn't seem to know how exactly they might look but she says stockings and shoes are so uncomfortable.
Does anyone know what shabbos sneakers are?

I have only heard of shabbos sneakers once in my life, and it was in this phrase:

“Don’t judge a Harry till you’ve walked a mile in his shabbos sneakers.”

LOL

I wish it was a joke. I want her to look nice.

Endorse her for wanting dedicated sneakers for Shabbos.
There are a lot of soft and thicker-soled shoes that are casual, called athletic, but not actually sneakers.

It’s white Vans and they are everywhere. In Teaneck you can wear them to shul. In Queens it’s for Shabbos afternoon. In my fancy bank the CFO lady who only wore heels for the past 5 years and looked like a cross between Cruella Deville and The Devil Wears Prada just showed up to work yesterday in drumroll, white Vans.

I've seen girls wear something like this to shul.

I understand wanting to be comfortable, but aside for not being shabbosdik they look so silly wearing beautiful shabbos dresses, white ankle socks and sneakers
Such a bizarre style IMO

It’s the juxtaposition that makes the look.

I think you got it right
I cant stand the look but the more I tell her that the more she'll stick with it. I'm not buying it anyway, I'm hoping to somehow find a normal pair of shabbos shoes she'll agree to.

My DD tried very nonchalantly asking me for a pair and I adamantly refused. I told her I'd rather her wear her birkenstocks and look silly wearing slippers rather than her wear sneakers on shabbos

Is this what all of her friends are wearing?

Mine started wearing her slippers around town yesterday.
We had two family weddings this past year and all the girls (kallahs friends) showed up in white sneakers.
I'm losing this battle.

No but she says stockings are too uncomfortable for her and that she doesn't like any dress shoes.

Wow I didn't know there are such detailed rules for what parts of the day you wear which shoes in some places!

She probably means plain white sneakers... but why don't you just ask her what she means instead of asking us?

Trust me I have its not a new conversation. She doesn't know exactly what she wants or how a shabbos sneaker differs from an everyday white sneaker. We joked that we could stick labels on her shoes that say shabbos on them.

Why don't you go shopping together then?
