DH is a computer technician and does this as part of his service in Israel. I'm happy to help from my knowledge if you need after Shabbos.
To know which laptop will be good for you you have to specify what it would be used for.
A laptop for basic home use won't work for a graphic artist.
You don't want to get a top laptop for an architecture if you are a secretary. That's just a waste of money.
If it's something to store alot of photos you need a higher harddrive space but that is easy to update at any time by any computer technician.
If you are running heavy programs or the type to leave alot of programs or tabs open the priority is higher RAM memory.

I need it for home for regular activity but I use it a lot. including zoom meetings , watching vidoes or pre recorded classes , ima mother , email order stuff etc. Basically its for home use and I store and download a lot on it. What is important to me is that it work properly and last long as possible (as far as I know these are important things , not sure if there are other things to consider) . Touch screeen is a plus (because especially I remember once one letter button was not working and not having touchscreen made me have to discoard it etc..
