I lived in my apt for 5 years and my rent wasn't raised
he was talking about raising it but I was moving out anyways
we didn't ask him to fox things or complain and he didn't raise the rent.

We haven't been raised for rent in the past 5 years, landlor has mentioned it to us in the past that she wanted to raise our rent but hasn't, so when we need something fixed we sometimes need to pay for the repair

I agree that the less you complain the less likely you are to get your rent raised.

It's unclear whether the $300 raise was one large sum or divided in those 5 years. I'm assuming it's divided. It's not alot at all. $300 in 5 years? Consider yourself very lucky.
I don't raise at all but that just me. Plenty of landlords I spoke to give yearly raises of anywhere between $50 and $100.
