Do you need to pay a monthly subscription? Or fees to download music?

Anyone have it and can provide general feedback?

Can you only download jewish music? Music from their site only? Wondering how else it would be only Jewish music.

Thanks

The device basically is locked to the 24/6 music streaming app.

You pay a monthly subscription to stream unlimited amounts of music from their app (they have TONS of options, though not everything, but only Jewish music and stories). You can also download as much as fits on your device to listen to when you don't have wifi.

You can access what you downloaded as long as you have an active subscription. (If you are paying month by month, you need to connect to wifi at least once a month to continue listening. If you pay a year up front, "yeshiva mode," you only need to connect once a year.)

I bought one for each DD in high school and they love them. I think it was a very worthwhile purchase and I'm glad I got them.

can you have it, download all the music you want and then not have the subscription and only sign up sporadically to get new music?

You can pay extra to download music for a longer period of time so you don’t have to reconnect to Wi-Fi. What you want is like an mp3 with unlimited music downloads. There’s no such thing. They won’t make money even the huge non Jewish streaming places charge at least $10 for an album to download.

If you want to buy music to download and keep forever, buy albums on MostlyMusic.com (or just suffice with the free stuff - there is actually a lot.)

But 24six is a subscription service. They make money from your recurring fees and use that to pay the artists for each time you play their songs.

When you pay for the month, you are paying for one month of access to music. You are not actually buying anything, you're "renting" the songs for that time period.

If you don't want to connect that often, you can pay for the year in advance and put it in "yeshiva mode," where you only have to connect once a year. You can then access all of the music you downloaded for the entire year. It's still a rental, but a longer rental.
