Many people are struggling with apartments now. I get that. I dont' know how they manage actually.
I have a few kids in a small 2 bedroom apartment and I am actually losing it. I've been trying to move for close to 2 years, and at first my husband wasn't so into it, and then prices became so high that it's not even feasible. I don't see a way to get out of my current place. Im on a high floor, no yard, no porch and barely any sun. My kids have nowhere to run around and we are constantly shushing them up so that they don't wake up my babies....
I dont' have place for a high chair in the kitchen, so I'm constantly leaving baby in the dining room during meals so that I'm going back and forth.
Then there's the issue having only one bathroom.
Not enough space to put things, everything is all over even though yes, I am a very organized person (until my last baby really no place to put even one more crib!)
What should I do??
I called my rav, and he told me it's "tzaras rabim".and we have to wait just like everyone else.
Meanwhile, I"m losing my mind.
I'm willing to move somewhere cheaper, but my husband doesn't want to move away from his job and the kids school.

I’d research places I think can work and then sell it to him.

Sound not that different to me but I’m probably in an even smaller space. I find key is spending lots and lots of time out of the apartment. Go out everyday no matter what and no matter where.

I’m in Israel so it might be different.

But we are in a small (60m) apartment, 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom, on a high floor with a very small porch. No separate kitchen/dining room.

While I occasionally wish we could afford a bigger place, I honestly love where we are. We have great neighbors, we are on a quiet out-of-the-way street, there’s a makolet just around the corner that my oldest has been walking to since she was 6, the girls’ school is a five minute walk away (the boys’ school is a bus ride away but you can’t have everything).

I would never move and make my kids be the new kids in school if I didn’t have a very good reason.

If your kitchen is big enough to eat in during the week maybe get rid of your table in the dining room. On Shobbos and other times open up a folding table when you need more space then your kitchen table. This saved my sanity when I could either have a dining room or a living room no room for both.

What basis did you think that?
And yes I can go out but I need to live indoors . I need to be able to run a functional home.

I’m in the same exact situation. I could have written your post word for word.
I have no advice for you. I’m sorry you’re in this matzev.
