I do freelance work, and one of my clients lost a parent. Is it the correct thing to go be Menachem avel?

That depends on your relationship, but I feel like it's always appreciated. Assuming you will have something to talk about and not be uncomfortable, therefore making her feel uncomfortable.

Not much to talk about, should I still go?

Unless you’re close, I’d send a text or email…

When I sat shiva, I only felt appreciation and gratitude to everyone who came to visit. It amazed me how many cared and made the effort to come out. I think that it is likely to be appreciated. You can always keep the visit short.

You don’t need to talk if you go. Sit quietly and seriously and listen to those around you or the Avel and then say hamakom before you go. 🤷♀️
