Hi-
I am flying to Israel in a couple of days by myself and had planned on taking a sheirut from the airport to ירושלים for convenience and so I don’t have to shlep my luggage from the bus or train. My niece mentioned that the sheirut from the airport to י-ם has been discontinued since the start of the war. Does anyone know about this and what are the alternatives besides a private taxi?
Thanks!

There is a very fast and direct train between the airport and Jerusalem's "new" Yitzchak Navon train station (which is right beside tachana merkazit).
ETA: Your ears may pop on that train ride.

I also heard that it's only running from the airport not to the airport but I could be mistaken.

I don't know about sheirut running or not, but my son came home for pesach and said it was super easy to take the train and doesn't know why he didn't do it before.

Thanks for the replies but now I am more confused. My niece told me her friend arrived at Ben Gurion this morning and there was no sheirut.

I find the train to be extremely convenient only if you are traveling without a ton of luggage, as you will have to maneuver it on and off the train/through the train station. I’ve taken it several times over the past year. Comes very half hour during the day, and once an hour throughout the night usually. Literally in Yerushaylim in 20-25 minutes 😅

What time did she arrive?
It could be they limited their time. Or she didn't understand what the fast talkers were saying.

I've heard that, but it doesn't make sense to me. They have to go to the airport anyway, so why not take passengers and get paid for the trip? Otherwise they're just losing money.
Maybe someone should call Nesher to clarify.

I have a large case and carryon so it is a decent amount for one person. I have also taken the train in the past but I wasn’t alone

This woman lives in Israel although she is an ex-pat. Presumably she understands enough hebrew. Don’t know when she arrived. That is a good point, thank you

Pickups around Jerusalem can take 2 hrs from their first pickup. Since the train the demand is less. Could be it wasn't worth it anymore travelling around Jerusalem for at least 3 hrs for both drop offs and pickups

Nesher closed down.
There are still big taxis (former neshers) that do pick ups at the airport the same way they used to. BUT they do not come nearly as often and are private. So it is not a great option to rely on because there may not be any there when you are ready to leave. It could take a while for one to show up, or you can be lucky and there can be one right when you need it. Since it's all private there is no organization of times etc.
They also might charge more because they don't get a full car like they used to. The driver wants to make 700 shekel per trip so it used to be they'd fill up, get 10 people and it was 70 per person. Now they will usually charge more, pretty much the 700 they want divided by how many passengers they get.
You can call a taxi service or find a taxi at the airport. But nesher simply cannot be relied upon like it used to be, because it no longer exists in that form. It is a shame.

Thank you for breaking it down for me.
