You make little packets of sugar cubes and garlic cloves. Put them on the tray with the baby. After the ceremony, people take home the packets and cook with them. Iirc, if you eat from the seuda of a pidyon haben, it's equivalent to 40 fasts.
Women put their jewelry on the tray and on the baby.
