Our washing machine is in our kitchen so we keep our hamper next to it. It has so much dirt and who knows what on the inside. Idk how much of it would be chometz since it is in the kitchen after all. We usually just lock it up but it gets very annoying to put laundry in garbage bags all week. Advice?

What material is it? I’d start with vacuuming it thoroughly

Why can’t you just scrub it down with wipes or spray with a cleaner of some sort, like windex?

The top part and sides are easy to clean. But it's a tall hamper which makes it very hard to get to the bottom

Put it in the bathtub and wash it down. Soak it with warm warm and soap for a bit to loosen and dried dirt.

Flip it over and bang out as much as you can. Then vacuum it very well. And wipe down the parts you can reach with windex.

Turn it upside down. Or put it in the bathtub.
Or buy a new one if it’s so bad.

So you do an effort. Pesach cleaning is hard. It can't be that impossible unless you are physically handicapped.

How is it any different than cleaning a garbage can?

This. Give it a shower! I do this with my big kitchen bin (trash can?).

My kitchen bin still needs a clean out every so often, in the bath! 😉
We use the same bin for Pesach and year round, we just wash it well.

I wash my garbage cans and hampers in the bathtub all year round. I turn them upside down to airdry. it works great.
