My first time working in a school without a/c and I am ready to give up. It was 94 outside today. I left work nauseous and with a migraine. I can’t do this for another few weeks. Any tried and true tips?

It's supposed to cool down here starting Thursday.
(I also heard a rumor that they might cancel tomorrow...)

My sympathies!
At the very least use a neck fan and set up room fans!

I don’t want to get into specifics, it’s a temporary situation, but we had the bad luck of the hottest week of the summer happening now. The school is trying their best, but it was really hot

Same. No ac or windows in my room. It's stifling. I bought a good fan for myself and give my students smaller fans to use. And this isn't a temporary situation.

I’m so sorry op. If you live where I live it was unbearably hot and humid today and it still is now at night. I can’t imagine how you work with no a/c. Put some ice packs and a few water bottles in your freezer and take them with you in the morning. The headache could be because you’re dehydrated. Try to make sure you get enough to drink.

I had frozen water, I was trying to drink all day, it was just really hot.

I would get a bunch of mist spray bottles for the students to use, as well as yourself!
Spray yourself every so often it’s really refreshing.
I did it today while my kids were playing outside.

Unacceptable. I wouldn't go in and I probably wouldn't allow my kids to go. It's dangerous.

It's extremely dangerous and a huge liability for the school. I don't know why they're allowing it to happen.
Kids actually passed out today.

I live in Baltimore City. All schools in this county without AC ended early today.

If it wasn’t the first week of school, I would have totally taken off. No money is worth getting sick for.

I would feel really unprofessional to do that , but I am also not sure how I will handle this for a whole month. I guess taking it day by day, and will just tell them I have to go home next time I don’t feel well from the heat.

It's really complicated. Because I'm a mom of these kids and I have to work. I finally got to work after 3 days off. I cannot have school closed tomorrow.

But, I also am not ok with teachers having to work under circumstances like this, and students going to school like this.

If I didn't have to work I'd keep my kids home, but I really cannot.

I really hope they don't cancel.

But I also really hope they do even though I'll be stuck
