Please keep in mind children with food allergies, celiac, other restricted diets and skip it if you have a child in your class like that. It's so hard for them.

Not OP, but also a teacher, and I am very careful to be aware of allergies whenever I bring in food. I think most teachers are! I've spent lots of $$ over the years buying dairy free and gluten free alternatives for the kids who needed it (often buying an entire box of whatever it is for one kid!)
I'm curious why, as a mother, your approach is "please just don't do it" instead of "please let me know in advance if you are doing a food activity, and if there's something my kids can't have I'll send in or pay for an allergy friendly version for them." No parent has ever offered me this, and it would be very appreciated...
I don't do a ton of food activities/parties - really not - but they are fun to do sometimes and I wouldn't think all the kids should lose out on that!

2 pretzel rods wrapped w fruit roll up. Sefer torah. Maybe squishy soft candy drops/or taffy to put onto the top of pretzel rods as decoration.
For those who may be celiac- gluten free pretzel rods. Those are expensive but will let them participate.
