Anyone here watch it? Can you tell us about it before I waste a few hours?

(Soap opera-ish? Sad? Clean? etc etc)

My daughter loved the show. In short, its about the daughter of a police officer, hence the name Smile who sees what looks like someone was murdered. She doesnt see the actual murder. She is chilonit. She is sent to a charedi family to stay under witness protection until the police catch the murderer. Nothing scary is ever actally seen. And there are many twists and a cute tween show.

Just binge-watched the whole series in a week or so.
I think there's a warning on the opening screen that it might be scary & young teens should watch with a parent or older relative.

They don't warn that bubbies might find their pulse a bit elevated ....

I thought it was very cute.
In the middle I went & watched West Side Story just to know what's going on.

Very interesting that Chani & Daniel's story echoes the Romeo & Juliet (I.e. Maria and Tony) theme but has a happy ending.

Phew. Now I can get back to my regular life.

But would love to discuss with those who watched.

Do these things have frum script consultants? So many mistakes.... oh well. Still enjoyable.

Oh - and - is Avodah Aravit scary?

Bat Hashoter was scary for me too 😊great to know I‘m not alone
I tried watching avoda aravit but they speak lots of Arabic and I cannot read subtitles so quickly. Those 10 minutes were not scary :-)
yes to lots of mistakes in Bat Hashoter - clothing, mingling with boys, shidduchim, even cooking is strange! did I miss something?

So interesting how for some this is scary. My daughter loved this show. She was not scared at all.
There were many things wrong with frum life, but that was not the essence of the show. So I would assume that it just wasnt that important to the producers/writers to get it all perfect.

One thing I'm curious about. People are actually locked into their house/apt without a key? (One of the friends says that as an excuse & Dana & Eliyahu have to sneak a key). Hasn't anyone ever heard of fire hazard?

Also so unrealistic that they'd leave Dana & Eliyahu alone in the house.

I loved Ronen from the beginning (especially since he's that cute chayal from Chayim Acheirim).

Balfor is the same guy who was the Shabak operative in Kipat Barzel and the nasty mashgiach in that story about the boys in a hesder yeshiva (name escapes me now).

As for Amira, I still think of her as Hodaya... do all Israeli tv shows have so many of the same actors? (As for Lipa Weiss/Avri Sagiv/ Zohar Strauss....)

My daughter 11 loooved it. It’s pretty soapy as far as I can tell, not my cup of tea. My daughter actually is very much the type who is easily scared and she V loved it. I only hear the shows they watch in the background and heard tons of over dramatic tone of voice and music that made my eyes roll.

I haven't seen the show, but yes one can be locked into the house without a key with certain types of doors.

Oh and the ending.
Hidden:

So nice to show that they will support Eliyahu so but SO unrealistic that the Rav will show up to the play. What's he going to do? Put in ear plugs when the girls sing? Not to mention the Chilull Hashem of people seeing him there.

Once again, realism is NOT what they are going for in this show Smile
Its tv, its supposed to be enjoyable and have happy endings Smile
