I was just wondering how it is todays day when a student asks to leave the room to use the bathroom. I"ll never forget the way my 7th grade teacher didnt allow me to go and what happened.. if you miss __ read this you should feel guilty what you did. im out of school for over 10 years and I still can't forget this feeling. I still feel it in my bones.

Students do sometimes tend to take advantage of leaving the room during class and it's hard for teachers to determine when the student really has to go or when she just wants to air out. Therefore I had a 'pass' system with my students. I taught 7th grade (and no itsme, I wasn't your teacher...I taught about 3 years ago). Each student received 3 passes per term giving them the opportunity to leave the room three times. If not used, they would receive extra points at the end of the term. It was great, emergencies don't usually occur more than 3 times per term and they only used it in 'real' emergency. After all, 7th graders love extra points on tests!
