So one of my big problems today (remember my kokosh cake conondrum?) is how to eat sushi.

Yeh. I'm not one of those cool people who can do the chopsticks gymnastics without looking like a fool. And I don't like using my fingers because I hate when my hands get this sticky feeling, plus it aint mannered..

So what are my options? Eat it with a fork? Spoon?
Or once I'm not using the above mentioned chopsticks, I can choose whatever non-conventional/ill mannered method I want?

Please help a Sushi lover eat her Sushi without embarrassing herself.

Check on YouTube for tutorials on how to use chopsticks.

Use a fork to balance a piece of sushi on and enjoy (don't stick the tines of the fork in the piece to try to pick it up, or it will fall apart).

But do learn how to use chopsticks. When I first started years ago I would keep the sticks attached at the top instead of separating them, and that helped me manage to pick up pieces of sushi.

I already gave up on learning how to use chopsticks. It's already filed in my mind as "reserved for the graceful people" thing.

I've given up.

Manual dexterity is not my thing.

I just use my fingers. Sorry if that's impolite, I consider sushi a finger food.

And that's polite?

The whole thing is too daunting. Call it Chopstick Phobia. The few times I tried I had Chopstick Trauma, in where I managed to lift the sushi with the chopstick, but midway on their journey from table to mouth, it (gasp!) plopped out of the chopsticks.

My DS insists the sushi is a finger food. And this article just proves it (see point 8)

Yeah me too. Perhaps some OT is in in order for us.

Thing is my fingers get that mild stickiness that I absolutely hate!

I've done it when I didn't have access to chopsticks and didn't want to pick up the sushi with fingers, and felt this was the more polite option.

Well, if ra-mom says so.. Salut

Anyways I'm kinda experimenting here, and right now the best I'm finding in terms of staying clean is to stick the fork gently into the sushi, that way I got dip it in the spicy mayo (yum!) and then easily, without doing those fancy gymnastics make its way to my mouth fool proff.

So if you're watching me right now eating, and you're finding it weird, or worse impolite, than I'm so very very sorry but this is the only solution I found to my Sushi Crisis.

LOL.

I'll struggle on with my sushi deficiency disorder. I'll just try to put a brave face on my suffering.

I use my fingers. I pour soy sauce into the lid of the sushi container and drench each piece of sushi in the soy sauce then stuff it in my mouth. Mmm yum I fancy me some sushi for supper
