I just got a cleaning lady.
She comes for about three to four hours a week...originally asking $10 an hour. Now she wants me to pay her a flat fee of $60 each time she comes.
$15-$20 an hour...is this normal??
How much do you pay your cleaning lady?

I live in Manhattan- it is very comman for cleaning ladies to charge a flat fee. mine charges $75 for a 2 bedroom apartment. for all I know shes there for 3 hours......

I guess it depends on where you are. I was paying $10 an hour in Brooklyn.

Mine (I only had her twice even though she was very good) Charges 10-15, depending on what she's doing. For example, if she was just doing floors, bathrooms, etc. that was 10, but for moving big furniture to dust under, or she had clients who had her take every book off the shelf and dust, it would be more. I guess it depends on how big the job is and how hard. And of course, where you are. If you don't like it, find someone else.

how did she suddenly change the deal ... if you were paying her $10 that was the agreement ... how long has she been there - doesn't seem long enough to ask for more money ... what you agreed on first should be the deal ... simple ... had she asked that from the beginning it would be a different story - then you could choose to say fogedaboudit!!! Notwithstanding that I do believe if they are doing the work good - it is a slave job !!!
