My friend is restringing my old amethyst single strand necklace into a double strand. A few of the beads have string stuck inside the hole and she can't get it out. The double strand is pretty short — we need the beads! Any ideas on how to remove the string without damaging the stones?

If you have already attempted to clean it using a beading needle I would suggest metal guitar string.

Use a super fine needle, they type used for seed bead weaving, or a piece of extremely thin and stiff wire like the type SoftFlex makes. It might help to soak the beads in hot water first, to loosen the fibers and make them easier to push out in smaller pieces.
