I don't use mock/processed seafood (aside from gefilte) but do mock shrimps need cooking or ready to eat once defrosted from the package? (I'd check the package).
If serving with cocktail sauce, I'll serve as is.
If serving with tartar sauce, you can probably dip in flour/beaten egg/breadcrumb and fry them.

"Real shrimp" are served cold with cocktail sauce. Therefore, I wouldn't heat them up. But frying them in tempura batter (rice flour & club soda, stirred till barely combined) and an Asian dipping sauce would work.

I mix in barbeque spice and garlic powder and a drop off chilli powder pour on the defrosted shrimp then pour olive oil then fry in a hot pan for a quick sear and serve with coctail sauce so yummy
