Sitting Down Next To a Man On a Luvseat Type of Couch.

Hi, I'm wondering if there's any problem with it.
I visited a doctor's office today and the only seat left was on a couch which only fits 2 people, a luvseat. I am pregnant and went to sit down there.
I wasn't sure it it's weird or not but I had no choice. Just wondering if it's OK.

As long as you weren't close enough to be touching him, what could be the problem?

I have had this on the subway.

He's not suppose to sit down next to you, but you don't hve to get up because of it.

SHE sat down next to HIM, and she wants to know if it was OK. I dont think its a problem, although I imagine if it was a frum man he would get up.
Also, I guess its too late now, but if you're visibly pregnant, don't you think someone would have gotten up for you had you stayed standing?

Was it in Dr Dori's office in BP?

If yes then I know which couch you mean and its quite big.

It's probably ok, but it depends how you feel about it. I would have asked the receptionist for another chair.

If it was on the subway I would have no problem sitting next to a man, but somehow I don't feel comfortable sitting next to a frum man.

OP here. I feel better now. I wasn't sure if it was proper or not as It is a pretty small luvseat and this man was BIGGGG and I took a chance. (Not Dr. Dori's office). I was visibly pregnant-in my 9th month and you could see that my foot was swollen and that I was walking wobbly. I was sure someone would get up for me but nobody there was frum so why would they think of getting up if there's an available seat.

Actually, a man can't sit next to a non Jewish woman either.

A while back, I was on the sbuway and a frum man came into the car at the last minute before the doors closed. He sat down next to me - and there were obv other seats available - but didn't look up.

I assumed he thought I was a shiksa - I may have even posted about that here!!! And the rov said that a man shouldn't be sitting next to any lady.
