DD has a teddy bear that got bottle spilled on him in the middle of the night (I hope it was a bottle). His tag says surface clean only. So I got out the rag and some war soapy water and cleaned him. The problem is that his fur is still pretty ruff. She wants her soft teddy back and wont play with him now (I'm sure that is she did it would soften the fur, but go explain that to a 14 month old). I thought about trying to blow dry him, but I'm not sure that would work. Any suggestions?

Does your dryer have a "no heat" or "air only" setting? Try putting the bear in for a few minutes. You can also add a fabric softener sheet.

can you buy a new identical one, My daughter loved a certain type of shmata that she wouldn/t go anywhere without. I ended up buying a dozen identical ones, when one had to be washed I replaced it with another. When they got so worn out, I just threw it out and gave her a new one.

If its her only mr bear and is her comfort object you might not want to risk it, but after we moved, all my dd's toys were alldusty and gross so I threw them in the washing machine and then in the drier. Even the ones that said surface wash only. They all came out just fine, infact they looked much better and fluffier. A lot of companies write surface wash, dry clean only, or do not put in dryer just to prevent complaints just in case. Much more than you think can actually just be washed as any thing else would and without the hassle.

I always stick these stuffed toys in the wash. Sometimes I let them air dry. Sometimes, I put them on a low setting in the dryer.
