My twins are 2 years old. Our family is away for the summer. Since I arrived here with them the napping and sleeping is so so hard. They keep on coming out of their cribs. I keep on putting them back. When they finally fall asleep they wake up so many times during the night. Sometimes, they come out alone during the night and I wake up hearing tiny footsteps. Other times, they just sit in their crib and cry nonstop. At first I thought its a matter of getting used to the new room and crib, but its been 2 weeks already. Help! I cant function this way....I am up almost all night!!! I am nervous if the come out of the crib when I dont hear them as well!!
I need all your advice please!!!

Hello tired Mommy. I can offer advice but first let me ask you why you think they're getting up/crying.
Perhaps you put them to bed too early? / They're not tired enough.
Have they started potty training? 2 things at once (new bedroom and potty training) is too much.
Are they thirsty?
Do they have a paci?
Is the room tidy? Can the see shapes in the dark that are scary?
Can they hear you up and about? / see light under the door?
Are you keeping to their regular routine?
Have all their teeth come in?
Could they have an ear infection or something?
etc

don't have twins but for my almost 2 year old who was escaping the crib and running around the house I got a crib tent. I was torn between a toddler bed and crib w/ crib tent.
he LOVES it. the first day he called it his "club house" and went right to sleep. it's been 2 days and so far so good. I think he feels secure.
FYI my first child did not have this issue and we had to pry him out of his crib when he was 3 and he went to a toddler bed.
I have heard people's babies cry a lot with a crib tent, but this was not our case. I think it's because we play with those kiddie pop-up tents a lot and it looks similar.
good luck!

If they didn't share a room, they might sleep better. Also, they might be ready for toddler beds rather than a crib.
I 2nd the suggestion of them not being tired enough.

Hi, waiting to hear all your advice!
I tried keeping them on the same schedule we had at home. They wake up 6:30 am and I try putting them for a nap @ 11;30---they dont fall asleep till 1:30. I try putting them to bed for the night @ 7:30---do you think its too early?
No, I haven't started potty training yet.
Yes they have a pacifier.
I dont think they wake up from hearing me...
Teeth are in...
Maybe maybe they have an ear infection??

OP here---can you please recommend which net you bought? Did you order it online? I think they are expensive, but I should look into it---if it works as you say ---its worth every penny!

Op here--When I first arrived here I put them in different rooms. However, they kept on coming out of bed. During the night they would cry and only if I sit next to them they would calm down...so I had to put them together, since I can only be in one room at a time.

I have 3 yr old twins and as soon as they started jumping out of their crib I put them in toddler beds. Its just too dangerous to have them climbing out, they could fall in the middle of the night C"V.
I cant really say why they are not sleeping through the night, sorry no advice

OP here---yes, I am really concerned about it.
Once you put them into toddler beds---how was it at bedtime? Didnt they walk out of the bed? At what age did you transfer from crib to toddler bed?

I'm just about to convert my two year old twins cribs to toddler beds since they've started climbing out and very much hope to find some useful suggestions here. Meanwhile I wish you the best of luck since you're struggling with something I'm very worried about and know is just around the corner for me.
For what it's worth, it does sound to me like your bedtimes are off a bit. My girls wake up around 6:30/7, go down for a nap at noon (they fall asleep pretty much strait away, and get a good 2 hours of sleep or so, sometimes as much as 4!) then bed time is 8:30 (pjs, stories, etc at 8, lights out 8:30).

My 6 year old twins still have a hard time falling asleep
they wake up at 7:00 a.m and don't go to sleep till 10 pm or sometimes later.
It's really hard . . .
I wish I had advice for you.
